The specification relates to an apparatus intended for panoramic X-ray photography of the area of the dentition and the jaws, the apparatus comprising a frame (1), a bearing part (2) which is linearly movable in relation to the frame part, and a support arm (10) which has been attached by means of bearings rotatably to the bearing part and which has at one end an X-ray film (11) and at the opposite end a source of X-radiation (12). The movements of the bearing part (2), the support arm (10) and the film (11) are mutually synchronized in such a way that an image of an area of the desired shape, for example an area the shape of the patient's dental arch, is obtained on the film during the movement. It is the object of the invention to provide the effect that the X-ray beam can be tilted to the desired angle in relation to the horizontal plane, whereby it is possible with greater sharpness than previously to photograph, for example, teeth slanted in relation to the vertical plane. In accordance with the invention, the support arm (10) is attached with bearings to the bearing part (2) so as to be tiltable about an axis perpendicular to the rotational axis of the support arm so that, when the rotational axis is vertical the straight line connecting the source of radiation (12) and the film (11) is oblique to the horizontal level. The device for radiography of the crown and dental area contains a stationary frame 1 mounted on a vertical stand with a stand. On the stationary frame 1, a carrier unit 2 is placed, which can be moved in a horizontal plane when supported on rails 3 by means of a stepper motor 4, the shaft of which is a screw 5, which is coupled to the component fixed to the carrier unit 2. A box-shaped unit 9 is connected to the coupling 6, on which a support bracket 10 is installed, having a movable X-ray film 11 at one end, and a source of X-ray radiation 12 with beam limiting means at the other end. At least the middle portion of the support bracket 10 is curved such that the center of the curve, i.e. tilt axis, located at the level of the patient's head.
The guide rollers 13 and -14 are fixed to the box-shaped assembly 9 using bearings, which are in contact with the side and upper and lower surfaces of the middle portion of the support bracket 10. With the box-shaped knot 9, the motor 16 is rotated through the shaft 15, the threaded shaft 17 of which is located the direction of the longitudinal axis of the support bracket and engages with the mating, threaded part 18, pivotally fastened to the side of the support bracket 10.
To ensure that the image is scaled without moving the patient, the box-shaped unit 9 is connected to the sleeve 6 by means of a plate-like unit 19 fastened with screws 6 and mounted in the longitudinal guides 20 on the inside sides of the box-shaped unit 9. connected with a threaded longitudinal shaft with the inner side of the box-shaped assembly 9.
The device works as follows.
